King Quartz 9721-8010

Vintage Seiko King Quartz 9721-8010 Beautiful Fully Working + Original strap

Fantastic condition with a clean beautiful white sunburst dial with one small black dot visible with the naked eye near the 2 and a few tiny blemishes visible under magnification.

The printed text, hands and all indices appear perfect. The crystal is very clean with very light scratches that I can only see with magnification. The case is in lovely condition overall, with only very light abrasions to be expected on a carefully cared for 30 year old watch.

The caseback is mostly clean with clear crisp text but has some light scratches from opening.

The crown is original, clean and secure. The hands set precisely and smoothly as expected.

The strap is a new simple brown leather strap. The original very old Seiko strap and signed buckle is also included. Sadly the Seiko buckle will not fit the new strap.

A new battery has just been fitted and the watch is running accurately.

I do not know when it was last serviced.

The 9721 King Quartz is not so often seen, but one I find particularly attractive. I love the simplicity of the dial without any complications or even applied text, the printed text is unbelievable crisp. The pure white sunburst dial and slender applied chiselled indices give an amazing clarity against the simple jet black hands.

The movement is a twin quartz high accuracy device with a specified accuracy of 20 seconds per year when it left the Diani factory. This was always a high end watch and the fit and finish bears this out, but now its a very affordable piece of vintage classic Seiko that wears very easily at just 7 1/2 mm thick.

  • Diameter w/o crown = 34.7mm
  • Diameter with crown = 36.1mm
  • Lug to Lug = 40.6mm
  • Lug Width = 19mm
  • Thickness = 7.4mm

King Quartz 5856-7020

Vintage Seiko King Quartz 5856-7020 Fully Working from 1978 + Vintage Bracelet

Fully working, keeping excellent accuracy with a new battery.Day/Date quickset works perfectly. The caseback has 5856-7020 printed on it but the dial has 5856-7030R printed on it.

Lovely condition with a beautiful linen texture dial that has darkened unevenly with age. It also shows some small marks, the worst of which is between the 11 & 12 at the edge. None of these detract from the overall look.

The black hands and applied chiselled hour indices are in excellent condition.

The crystal is unmarked and completely clean. The bezel has some scratches as would be expected from a 42 year old watch and has one deeper scratch near the crown but none of that detracts from the overall look.

The case also retains its sharp edges but shows signs of use all over with one or two deeper dents.

The original signed crown is secure and precise and works appropriately in all positions. The caseback and battery hatch are in excellent clean condition.

The Bambi bracelet is in nice clean condition without any obvious stretching with a secure clasp. These were a common replacement for the original Seiko bracelets and give a very similar look.

Overall this is a very tidy watch that has seen some life. The dial has aged unevenly, leaving an area from the centre to the day/date window lighter than the rest, and there are also a few blemishes on the dial. The non Seiko bracelet is in nice clean serviceable condition and is an excellent replacement for the original that hardly changes the overall look at all.

Somehow none of this really detracts from the look of the watch on the wrist. Personally I quite like a watch that has lived a little – it is over 40 years old and with a user accessible battery hatch and modern batteries, the linen texture dial is lovely and provides wonderful legibility against the black hands. This well proportioned watch retains that all important grammar of design sharpness that makes such a handsome, easy to wear every day high quality vintage King Seiko!

  • Diameter w/o crown =  33.6 mm
  • Diameter with crown =  35.6 mm
  • Lug to Lug =  39.8 mm
  • Lug Width =  18 mm
  • Thickness =  8.3 mm

Seiko Credor 8J81-6A30

Vintage Seiko Credor 8J81 6A30 Beautiful Fully Working Condition from 1999 with New Hirsch Strap and original Credor strap and buckle

Fantastic condition with a clean beautiful white sunburst dial with one small light blemish near the 8 visible with the naked eye and a few smaller blemishes visible under magnification.

The hands and all indices appear perfect. The case is in lovely condition overall, but has very light abrasions to be expected on a 20 year old watch. It has one deeper dent near the 10 and modest scratches near the 9.

The caseback is mostly clean with clear crisp text but has some light scratches from opening. It has been engraved in Kanji.

The crown is original, clean and secure. The hands set precisely and smoothly as expected.

The strap is a new Hirsch leather strap with crocodile pattern. The original, but very tired strap and Credor signed buckle in excellent condition is also included. Sadly the Credor buckle will not fit the Hirsch strap.

A new battery has just been fitted and the watch is running accurately. I do not know when it was last serviced.

The 8J81 is thermo-compensated, High Accuracy movement. When new this was rated at 10 seconds a year and is still running extremely accurately. This example was made in 1999

Credor is a Seiko sub-brand providing very high quality finishes and materials with Seiko’s highest quality movements. This watch is small but wears bigger than its dimensions suggest, and at just over 5mm thick it is extremely comfortable.

The crystal is near perfect with no obvious scratches or marks. The case is nearly as good with just a few minor scratches on the sides. All of the edges are crisp and sharp with no major dings.

King Quartz 0852-8025

The Seiko 0852 King Quartz is a highly practical vintage quartz watch that can easily be worn every day. Originally released in 1974 this example dates from September 1976.
The battery hatch can be easily opened to replace the commonly available modern battery. Accuracy is still fantastic even compared to modern watches and was specified as better than 10 seconds per month when new.
This was always a high end expensive watch and the fine King Seiko level of detailing bears this out.
The textured dial is simply gorgeous and the angled indices catch the light wonderfully.
The hands with their highly polished finish and thin black line give the watch a wonderful legibility in any light.
I prefer the date only 0852 version in preference to the more common 0853 day/date as it retains greater symmetry and simplicity in the face.
